In fact, the Dee thing came about because the people closest to me were quite frankly being awful to me about my name. In a lot of ways they still do. My own brother don’t spell it correctly. I am not interested in going through that again. it’s not endearing it’s estranging.

I love my name, but I don’t like people calling me it very much anymore. It’s like calling me by what college I went to. True, but irrelevant. I’m not really *that person* any more.

The ways in which people discover music effectively splits down two lines: a) something controlled by a company's algorithm, and their promotional weighting depending who's paying them b) random insider spaces online (a discord, a small streamer space) that evaporate every 2-5 years.

The DMCA laws also fucked up a lot of mixtape sites and while DJ mixes still exist (of course) centralized sites are limited and always running on borrowed time. The booming mix culture of the early - mid 00's got hit hard with the bullshit.

I'm not gonna argue music taste, but I'll bring up my usual points about modern music industry: - Clear Channel ate up a lot of radio stations - Corps want a few superstars, not bands or groups - Everyone sounds the same bc producer pool narrowed down - No one does artist development anymore
