Preprint w/ (rapid) analysis of Grokipedia, showing it to be “highly derivative of Wikipedia”, but differing, often on controversial topics, in that Grokipedia includes content/cites from low quality (hyper partisan & conspiracy laden) sources like Stormfront & Infowars.

This is an irrelevant result/"noise" in search results for a review I'm supporting on animal personality. I have thoughts.. like maybe this should be a blog post, not a journal article.

1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

How can we as academic librarians expect to be taken seriously as evidence synthesis/review experts when we don't apply appropriately rigorous methodology & reporting standards in our own journals?

“authors should state when they did not synthesize the totality of the evidence (e.g., engaged in cherry-picking) or if they did not evaluate or contextualize the included literature, etc.” Love peer review of the peer review! 🔥

This is such an awesome mic drop. Also, as someone trained in qualitative methods, it’s stunning to me for any journal to not include some sort of limitations section. No single study can be extrapolated to all situations on its own (nor any analysis).

Just in case no Minnesotan in your life has mentioned the Halloween Blizzard of 1991 today, I'm telling you now. 🎃❄️ I was dressed as a Twins fan carrying a pennant. We trudged through, undeterred by the snow. 💪

Can we please stop calling things AI that are indeed not AI? It's really annoying for a scoping review I'm working on. We're screening a shit ton of studies b/c the authors called something AI when it's not AI. Journal editors and peer reviewers, you are also to blame. 🧐
