Wales’s 20mph speed limit has cut road deaths. Why is there still even a debate?
Research suggests the scheme may be more popular than thought, with consultations dominated by a loud minority

Britain once led the world in road safety. Road collisions cost the country about £40bn ($50bn, or 1.5% of GDP) each year. In 2011, the government dropped its road safety targets altogether. The new government promises a strategy, but will it be enough?

Safe streets include inclusive design that women are willing to cycle in the dark. It shouldn’t be a choose between multi lane traffic and dark, isolated ride. Are you organising a

ride? Share below and let’s get as many people out as possible.

Hard to believe it’s a over a year since our

In the debate over whether shopping strips should be directly accessible by cars, importantly, vehicular access can still occur, but priority is given to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. Cars are given access as a guest, or subject to everyone else’s safety.

The lack of any charges yet is disturbing. I know the system is to blame, that there never should have been four lanes of cars speeding right next to a sidewalk of pedestrians, cyclists and babies in strollers. But there needs to be some kind of accountability for drivers who KILL people.

What do safe streets mean to you? For Kat in Reading, it means having a less anxious relationship on the streets with her son. ‘I’m constantly on such high alert for traffic that I can’t relax with him to play. Journeys from a to b are about keeping him safe, not having fun exploring and playing’
