Aside from wheeling out Labour big guns, part of the agenda here is that UK has chairmanship of the G20 in 2027 - the global body GB brought to prominence post financial crisis. This year it’s Trump, who is gutting its agenda of development, etc. GB has been quietly working on how UK could rebuild.

Much of the commentary on Gordon Brown is steeped in ageism. The notion that someone like him is not capable of looking to the future or coming up with radical policy - especially in light of a his recent work on child poverty and constitutional reform - is not the profound take some think it is.
