There are very few academic articles about climbing buildings, but I wrote one of them and writing it was a lot of fun.

Alongside the word of the year we should have “the word that has lost the most of its meaning this year”. I nominate “ceasefire”.

A couple of photos from the beginning my walk last Sunday. These are both in the area between Ginza and Shintomicho. Have a client in the neighbourhood so I see it often but don't really get chance to simply float around and photograph it. Hasselblad 503CW, CFV50c back & Zeiss-Sonnar 80mm f/2.8

It took me 45 years (to the day) but I finally took my first self-portrait. Not the sharpest, but I'll take it. (You can tell I was concentrating hard on shifting backwards and forwards to try and get it in focus. 😆)

Personally I'd like 'work' to get me closer to the subject via the 'artist' not distance me from them. I have strong feelings about exploitative work by photographers. I wonder how many prospective masterclass attendees realise they too are being exploited...

I've been pushing myself to shoot portraits when I'm out in the forest. I limit myself to two frames per person and then hope that at least one of them comes out well. OM10 and Fomapan 400.

I was wary of pushing cheap ISO400 film to 800 but it's proven effective. The grain is obviously a bit insane but with the Olympus XA, I seem to be able to shoot in pretty much any light and get decent results. The XA becomes very versatile as an EDC which is exactly what I was hoping for.
