The books I read in January 📖🥰📚 This has been a great reading month - not a single dud 🤓 My highlights were The Last Gifts of the Universe, Yeonnam-dong’s Smiley Landromat, and The Wild Robot 😍 These plus ebooks, I read 18 books in January 🥳

The whole blurb thing is interesting. As an author I was so delighted when people I admired read my book and said lovely things about it, and I love shouting about other people’s books. However, as a reader an author blurb has never propelled me to buy a book 🤷🏻‍♀️

Working in on line edits for Martin and Stern three now (which I HATE) and Odie has refused to trade jobs - you’d think one day of me napping while he edits would be okay but NO 🤷🏻‍♀️

Always in awe of the people who save up their Waterstones points and go on an epic book shopping spree at the end of the year/on their birthday but I will always be a person who redeems them at the earliest possible moment 😂

One edit done, onto the next 🤓 This was a quick structural edit and next up is a close line by line, which I HATE but it does make the writing sharper so has to be done 🫠

Over Christmas I took my emails off my phone and since then I haven’t put them back on and I’m loving it - I only look at my emails now when I actually have time to and don’t compulsively check them throughout the day 🤷🏻‍♀️ If only I could go back in time and tell querying Anna this was the way to go 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

I don’t know if it was because I was doing lots of new things, feeling vulnerable, or because I was away from home a lot, but my PTSD flared a bit these past two weeks while I was launching Shot in the Dark 🫠 Really glad to be getting back into my usual rhythms today 🧡

Excited to start reading this - I need some cosiness right now 🧡
