Imperial violence always rounds back to the home front. This is a lesson that U.S. needs to learn again and again apparently, and there are a lot of great scholars and journalists on this beat.

Universities will bend over backwards to have far-right speakers on campus, and will use any combo of proceduralism and policing to quash pro-Palestinian student protests. It’s interesting that one of these is seen as an essential part of campus life and the other is seen as an existential threat.

I think a pretty strong case could be made that CUNY is in fact the preeminent and most important American university system.
