Not much change since last year in GCSE results today. Regional gaps wide but unchanged, gap between state and private sector narrowed slightly after an increase last year. Main trend is grammar schools continuing to pull ahead of both comprehensives and private schools since the pandemic.

🚨 The Government has just announced that free school meals eligibility will be expanded to cover all children living in households that receive Universal Credit. This is a very positive move, marking a significant step towards taking hunger out of the classroom 👇🧵

The Sutton Trust has been campaigning for this extension for the last 3 years, so it's great to see it brought in. But it needs to just be the start, with more investment in the education of poorer children, and not just their food.
