Fonts are in the news, so I'm going to take the opportunity to port over an old thread: what was typography like in the Soviet Union? Spoiler: they did not just have 1 font everyone had to use. As a matter of fact, there were 39. One of them, you can see here, used to great effect for "Chernobyl."

This is a concept older than my working life... but it's so easy to forget the easy way to tackle tough problems. The biggest issues we face get solved by tackling what's right under our noses first. What's it going to be today?

emailed this morning, looking for examples of schools and universities no longer grading students. Are you in one of them? The advantages of going no-grades are huge and well-evidenced, but so few schools have gone that way.

Ask the wrong question, and you'll get the wrong data. Some people even ask the wrong questions on purpose: it lets them carry on pruning around the edges instead of asking the harder questions with even harder answers.

A lack of focus is a symptom of and contributor to poor decision-making. Without focus, you might avoid quick decisionsāor avoid them altogether. One reason is that, without focus, itās hard to get consensus on whether a decision is good or bad for the organisation.
