This morning’s roe deer. Nice to look at but can cause a lot of damage to crops and young trees. Numbers have increased a lot in recent years with up to twenty often seen on my walk around here, usually in groups of three.

We’ve had a lot of rain over the last 48 hours and it’s good to see the burns full again. There’s even a bit of flooding in some of the fields but dig down a few cm and it’s bone dry. We need a lot more steady rain to reverse the effects of the summer drought

Wonderful to catch a pine marten on the wildlife camera right by the house. This is the closest of three recent sightings. They seem to be spreading well in North Fife now. Hopefully they will be an effective predator for grey squirrels.
