Nature is not a “blocker” to delivering new housing – it’s necessary. A new cross-party report blows apart the myth that nature slows development. The real blockers? Skills shortages, weak incentives for greener homes and planning rules that sideline sustainability.

Amendment 40 to the Planning and Infrastructure Bill has been voted down. Had it passed, it would have meant more precious wildlife would have retained existing protections. Instead, MPs have bought into the false 'nature vs growth' narrative.
