16 years ago today on the 12th October 2009. Interviewing Mary Tamm at The VoiceBox, Derby. Mary played the first Romana in Doctor Who alongside Tom Baker. Mary sadly passed away on the 26th July 2012, at the age of 62.

59 years ago today (8th of October 1966), Episode One of "The Tenth Planet" was first broadcast, the four part story was written by Kit Peddler and Gerry Davis, it was the second serial of the programmes fourth season, and it would mark the last regular appearance as William Hartnell as The Doctor.

Watching ‘Crime Traveller’ on dvd the short lived (8 episodes) BBC1 tv series starring Michael French and Chloe Annett. First episide shown on the 1st of March 1997. This is the first time I’ve seen the series since it was first shown. To date it’s never been repeated.

46 years ago today (30th September 1979] ‘Shoestring’ made its debut on BBC1, in the opening episode; “Private Ear”. Two series were produced. More were planned but Trevor Eve feared becoming typecast in the part. The series starred Trevor Eve as Radio Wests Private Ear, Eddie Shoestring.

60 years ago today we were introduced to Steeds new partner Mrs Emma Peel in the series 4 opener “The Town of No Return”.

50 years ago today on the 27th of September 1975. The first part of “Planet of Evil” was broadcast. This four part story was the second serial from the programmes 13th Season. Written by Louis Marks. The scenes set on the planet jungle were shot on film at Ealing Film studios.

32 years ago today on the 10th September 1993. The X-Files made its tv debut. In total 218 episodes were made and two cinema films. The series became an instant hit and made household names of David Duchovny as Fox Mulder and Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully. Certainly one of my tv series.

Dave have cancelled plans for a new Red Dwarf special, saying they are no longer commissioning scripted shows. After years of Grant & Naylor legal issues holding up a new series it seemed we were back on track for more new Red Dwarf but that seems unlikely now and I doubt the BBC will take it back.

It’s exactly 59 years ago today, the 8th September 1966, since ‘Star Trek’ made its debut on American television. The series premiered with the episode titled “The Man Trap”. The series however wouldn’t be seen in the U.K. until 12th July 1969.

36 years ago today on the 6th September 1989, Doctor Who returned for its 26th Season with Part One of “Battlefield”, the opening four part story also saw the return of Nicholas Courtney as The Brigadier.

49 years ago today on the 5th September 1976. Doctor Who’s 14th season began. Without a doubt one of the best seasons of the programme. Good production values, solid script writing, good direction and Hinchcliffe and Holmes as Producer and Script Editor offering a clear vision and tone. Superb.

12 years ago today (3rd September 2013) Interviewing tv director Graeme Harper, (at The Quad) Graeme has worked on numerous tv dramas, and of course Doctor Who. Graeme directed arguably one of the best Doctor Who stories ever - “The Caves of Androzani”
