She also knows she’s capable of doing it. Even if she doesn’t feel like it right now. Maybe she doesn’t trust herself fully, but she trusts all the training her dad put her through. And if he thinks she’s ready, then she must be. She takes a final deep breath and turns to the guard, ready to leave.

She knows she’s supposed to be calm and collected, especially in front of others, but Zora feels sick. As she paces nervously across the room, the guard quietly watches her. Deep down, she knows Lumiens’ presence was just her dad being overprotective, but still feels like this is too much to handle.

The news is like a punch to her stomach. Besides being the kingdom’s most trusted soldier, Lumiens is the king’s number one advisor and the closest thing Zora has to an uncle. He wasn’t going just to ensure her safety, but also to act as a mentor for political matters if necessary.

Despite her harsh words, he’s properly calm and polite, apologizing before introducing himself and delivering the message. Something about him feels awfully reliable and she 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘴 he’s the type of guy who’s annoyingly confident and gets things done.

Even though his voice is soft, she quickly turns on her heels, startled, and demands explanations without missing a beat. The guard stands perfectly still. If he’s surprised by her reaction, he doesn’t show.

Almost two hours later, everything is packed and Zora is in her travel clothes, ready to leave. Alone in the big bedroom for too long, anxiety catches up to Zora and she’s too lost in nervous thoughts to notice the two soft knocks at the door before a young guard slides into the room.

And to this day, somehow, he always knows the right thing to say and exactly what she needs to hear, even when Zora herself isn’t so sure of what that may be. And all she needs in that moment is his gentle reassurance and the quiet yet solid pride he offers.

Now that she is older and has the knowledge of how much he does for their people, Zora does her best to stay out of trouble and not be a burden. She is old enough to deal with things and her dad’s time is best spent with Mimnea, who needs him more than she does. But that doesn’t stop Thraux.

Zora watches them together, remembering exactly how safe and cared for she felt in her father’s arms when she was Mimnea’s age. A wave of gratitude suddenly washes over her, she’s thankful for the way he always put her first despite of everything he had to deal with.

Mimnea quickly jumps to her feet, running to her father’s arms. Ruling definitively isn’t an easy task, but the king manages to squeeze just enough time for his daughters, especially the youngest one. He holds her close, soaking up all the small moments he can.

Silently, the great King Thraux watches his oldest daughter handling the situation with the same patience and grace his late wife would. He can’t hold the low laugh as it inevitably ends in another small banter, getting the girls’ attention.

All years Zora spent relentlessly studying are finally paying off and her first solo diplomacy trip approved just a week before shows her father’s faith in her work. But somewhere along the way, she must have missed the signs of her sister’s discontent at the situation and promises to do better.

And even though it’s an apparently harmless obsession, it could bring the little girl some problems, so Zora has to lecture her. Her sister's unexpected rant catches her off guard as she didn’t realize how much her recent absence affected Mimnea.

The light banter quickly distracts Zora from the tension, but learning what her little sister has been up to brings up new worries. Mimnea is too smart for her age and keeps getting into stuff she’s not supposed to. Her newest obsession? Cats.

Both princesses of Sixam sit at the oldest’ room, the prospect of their imminent separation, even if a temporary one, looming over their heads. Mimnea fills the room with questions and little stories as her sister mentally goes over everything for what feels like the thousandth time.
