Today would have been the 101st birthday of one of my favorite illustrators, Edward Gorey. I entered an Evil Garden-themed envelope contest honoring Gorey last year. Didn't win, but enjoyed drawing this so much that I had to share.

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

I will say that one of the reasons I'm deeply frustrated with the "like they're ever going to have elections again" doomerism is that it's big "oh so you REALLY only think there are elections every 4 years, or 2 at best?" man the number of elections we've been having this whole time.

Especially if your senators are GOP, call them. Just say "I'm asking the senator to vote no on any further Department of Homeland Security funding." It's worth working to peel off any GOP senators who might be wavering and constituent pressure will give them cover.

My officials - this is not reform-able. This is a complete refutation of the 4th Amendment to the Constitution. They do not believe that the Constitution applies to them. No more funding for ICE - at any time, for anything. It must go.

It's Dr. Martin Luther King Day here in the U.S. Many of us have read snippets of the famed speech at the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom in 1963, but I recommend reading it in full. Even better is to listen to it in full. 1/2
