one thing i’ll never forgive endwalker for is retconning sharlayan into a perfectly good, altruistic society that had a valid, existential reason for every major policy decision. one of the best parts of ARR’s writing was that sharlayan’s underlying belief system wasn’t so different from garlemald.

new tanks here's a tip, okay. when you're in a dungeon with a caster, your #1 job is to make sure they can never get even a single spell off. pull the second pack, stop. wait for them to start casting. then keep running. once you do hit the wall, simply line of sight them or hit them with mob aoes

Some stuff I was gonna post before the thread got closed

the pieces themselves are fine on their own but in the context of the plot and setting, putting conquistador armor and a tabard striped from neck to groin with christian crosses while the magic+healing classes get the mystic native-coded wear is just appalling. thumb up ass design choices.

I care a lot about worldbuilding+ the clothing that makes it. there are inventive ways to reimagine and recontextualize historical garments. but without writing and worldbuilding to substantiate it, and all moral complexity wiped from narrative, you're left aesthetics and their innate implications.

crazy how ffxiv ended services right after base ew and how nice it is that i and friends get to just create for it instead of square enix making more content for it
