Dog editors vs Cat editors
As an author, my writing goes through stages. Sometimes it's a fragile flower, sometimes it's an almost perfect final draft. And that means I need different feedback from co-authors and editors, at different stages of the writing cycle. When you work in a writing team, too, you'll often have people with different strengths.

Research shows, over & over, that private schools do NOT deliver better edu outcomes. What private schools DO confer is elite social connections, & so govt should ABSOLUTELY NOT give them ANY funding. They should survive on their own elite means

Impact, not metrics: Prof Helen Watt agreeing with
@drstephaniewescott.bsky.social
point about how impact can mean how your work has made a difference to someone. Don’t be in a hurry to pump out media until you’ve got something to say, so get the pub out, then talk about it

The abstract is the single most important thing in your journal article submission, according to
@stewartriddle.com
. He says to “think of the abstract as the advertisement for your paper” - okay so this is gold because I always see the abstract as the afterthought, whoops 🤗

Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, marking the start of the 16 days of Activism. In 2023 every 10 minutes globally a woman is killed by a partner or family member. In 2022 the rate was one woman killed every 11 minutes. 1 minute matters. A thread 🧵👇🏼

Thank you to the 8,500 Victorians that joined the Walk today. It’s been hard to feel hopeful in 2024 - the rate & impact of family & sexual violence has been relentless. Yet the collective commitment & power of today felt hopeful. This violence is preventable & change is possible. Thank you all 🧡

Today we walk 🧡 At least 66 women have been killed in Australia in 2024 allegedly by male violence. This violence is preventable. We need an acceleration of efforts across prevention, early intervention, responses & recovery. 🔸Details of the Walk here
