NGC 2024, the Flame nebula, is an emission nebula located about 1350 ly away in the constellation of Orion. The bright star in the image is Alnitak, the leftmost star (from the N hemisphere) of Orion's belt. Despite how close it looks to NGC 2024, it is not associated with the nebula. #astronomy

M21 is an open cluster located about 3900 ly away in the constellation of Sagittarius. At about 6.6 million years old, it is a very young cluster and as such does contain a few bright blue stars. These stars are short lived and are not found in older clusters. #astronomy

NGC 5866 is a edge on lenticular/spiral galaxy located about 50 Mly away in the constellation of Draco. #astronomy

M57, the Ring Nebula, is a planetary nebula located about 2500 ly away in the constellation of Lyra. Though its ring shape suggests a spherical overall shape, kinematic studies of it suggest that it is actually barrel shaped and we are looking down the end of the barrel. #astronomy

NGC 6765 is a planetary nebula located about 7600 ly away in the constellation of Lyra. It is a star in its last stages of evolution, having passed through the red giant stage and will soon move into the white dwarf stage. #astronomy

M77 is a barred spiral galaxy located about 47 Mly away in the constellation of Cetus. It is a Seyfert type galaxy, that is its core produces a vast amount of energy compared to non-Seyfert galaxies. This is due to a supermassive black hole in the core that is actively consuming matter. #astronomy
