Took a few weeks of tinkering, but I think I have put together a solid process for shooting and developing these dry plate tintypes using flash indoors. Also happy I somehow am mostly in focus considering this was a self-portrait shot wide open on a 4x5 #filmphotography #largeformatphotography

Shot this on dry glass plate mostly to test if I could use flash to expose these. Turns out you can, but it needed 5 full power bursts from a pair of 600 Watt strobes about 2 feet away. I do like the weird misty effect it created though. #filmphotography #largeformatphotography

Second try at shooting a tintype (this time a self portrait) was more of a success. It was mostly flawless until some of the emulsion began to pull away during the drying process. But it's definitely an improvement over the first go. #largeformatphotography #filmphotography
