Small point: There has been a decades long campaign to make cities seem more dangerous than they are. The truth was always much more nuanced. Now, US cities have reached record low crime levels nationwide. So we now have a federal effort from people who benefit from fear to make them dangerous.

This was released by the House Ethics committee a month ago, I read it at the time. It is a problem that journalists repackage stuff released transparently by government accountability mechanisms as something they "secured," since then those transparency mechanisms don't get credit.
