Best glory I’ve ever seen from a plane! It’s an optical phenomenon that occurs when light interacts in and around tiny droplets of water in the clouds, in the direction opposite the sun. More complex than a rainbow. Here’s a link to some more info:

A spectacular "cold wake" is evident along former-hurricane Erin's track. This is a normal feature caused by strong winds upwelling/mixing cooler water from below. Erin was not only very intense but also very large, which also helps with the upwelling. The water temperatures will gradually recover.

. And a curious thing: the low temperature at ~6degW is due to upwelling along the coast of Spain -> this cold tongue presents a lower roughness (see right image, natural colour, where there's no glint), probably because of suppressed wind 🌊
