🛰️ In Argentina's breadbasket, abundant rains have put a pause in area stressed by a couple of years of low precip. In fact rain last few months has been too much and now inundated pastures and damaged crops are the issue. Satellite images showing inundated areas and comparison with 2 years ago.

🛰️ While Terra satellite is drifting (into an orbit from where it will be decommissioned), it is still capturing images. Here a #volcanotrack Mt Michael in the S. Atlantic (9:30UTC) but in the overpass of SNPP (15:56) there is no trace of activity. This illustrate how ephemeral volcanic activity is.

🛰️🌍🧊🐧 In the #LithiumTriangle area today in NW Argentina, dust activity in the Dead Man dry lake (which says everything about conditions in this place). Because emission is as such elevated place, dust is injected in the mid-troposphere were winds can carry it long distances including to Antarctica.

I am having mixed feelings about AI as work companion. This week I had a good example of AI providing an almost perfect draft code & another where I had to spend way to much in correcting the imperfect drafts. Between the two, the total time was about the same if I had done it all by myself.

🛰️🌍🌬️ This #highlatitudedust event in Patagonia travelled north towards the coast of Brazil. While not hear off, it is rare to see confirmation via satellite. In this case, GOES near-IR channels picked up the signature of the dust cloud. (animation in thread)

From satellite it is a rather cloudy scene w/some clear pockets is visible (arrows) & confirmed by surface webcam. More importantly most of the dust will not be detected by satellites algorithm (bcse clouds) .

The dark smoke seen through the clouds in this satellite image comes from the fire at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. Despite cloudy weather and low resolution, the satellite clearly captured the heat and smoke, showing its crucial role in detecting and monitoring disasters in real time.🔥✈️
