I got the warrant page for my dissertation! Only thing left is editing for publication!

I'm on Tumblr again, and more than I am here these days. I am desperately searching for people to talk about the weewoo show with. It kept me sane while writing my dissertation (which has been approved! woohoo!). Buck and Tommy have consumed my fannish life. I have written, and plan to write more.

Just got four vaccines: Covid, flu, pneumonia, and RSV. My arms already hurt; I’m ready for a miserable weekend if need be.

Heard back from my quant committee member yesterday (and he finally signed with his first name, so I guess now that I have a doctorate he considers me worthy), & I just sent off the final revision of my dissertation! Woohoo!

So far the theme of the week seems to be having hot flashes in class. Do not want. Also, so many many many little tasks.

Forgot my computer glasses and had to park up a big hill. The day can only get better, right? #seconddayofclasses

I survived teaching my first class in a year and a half! It is really hot outside & I had to go to the portable to get white cardstock! I'm not sure how my feet & joints will survive when I'm teaching 3 classes in one day!

This first week back is kicking my ass. And the cats don't know what to do with the fact that I'm gone all day! Can't believe classes start on Monday.

Have successfully registered car and gone to campus. Trying to work on about 5 different things at the same time. Save me from Lighthouse, the bane of my existence. Also re-doing schedules and syllabi is not fun. And my one class looks like it won't make, which means I don't know what.

This workshop on Blackboard Ultra is sooooo boring. In the third hour and am not sure I'll make it through to 4 o'clock. But there are important things they haven't covered yet, like the gradebook!

Got my emissions test done today but have to go to DMV itself to renew registration. NOt gonna have time today since I have a meeting at 1! Unless the meeting is unhelpful & I decide to ditch it.

Dissertation revisions are going to kill me. And if they don't, my new job will. ARGH.

I have to do revisions on my results section and it's very confusing trying to figure out what my committee member wants. I need to get this done this week. I start back to work in my new job next week! #dissertation

Busy prepping for defense on Friday! Also now getting emails from folks in the new dept (Allied Health Sciences) I'll be teaching in, so that's fun (not sarcastic).

Just did my first, very awkward and jumbled up run-through of my dissertation defense. It took 40 minutes (including 5 minutes for me to show the video), so the timing is okay. Super awkward pauses though; I need to tighten it up a lot!

Why I can’t get any work done.

I think I'm ALMOST done with the powerpoints for my defense presentation next week.

I have gotten a look at my schedule for the fall and it is...confusing. I'm only teaching pharm and med term, but I'm teaching some F2F, some DL, and some dual-credit, and some are the second 8 weeks adn one is the first 14 weeks. It's going to take some getting used to!

Today I ended up getting iritis again, going to urgent care, paying that copay, paying an uber to go back and forth to the ophthalmologist, plus that copay, & now I'm on eyedrops again. Needless to say, I didn't get much done on my dissertation presentation today, although I tried until my eye ouch.

Working on my dissertation presentation is slow work. It's coming along, though. Just slowly. And don't get me started on the presentation for my Ethics of Care class, which is VERY slow-going.

I have finished what is hopefully the FINAL draft of my diss and sent it to my committee to prepare for my defense! (Now I need to actually prepare for said defense).

I have too many things open in Word: -my diss, of course -my sabbatical proposal -the after-sabbatical report I have to write -the ideas for my last ethics of care assignment, which I've barely started -the fic -the background details for the fic Some of them are in the dock but it's still crazy

I got the offer this afternoon! And accepted it!

My job offer continues to exist in the void that is HR. Working on revising the diss some more. Pretty much done except for a question about the conclusion chapter.

Today is edit/rewrite day, especially focusing on lit review. I am not into my lit review. Trying to make it more readable for a reader who's never encountered the issue of healthcare waste before, and it is a big challenge. Form sent in for defense date! It's really happening! Need to focus!

I have an official date and time for my defense! August 8th at 2:30!

Good: Got confirmation from my new boss that I would be getting the offer from HR soon. Also got confirmation that I can go to AASHE in October. Bad: Still haven't heard from HR. Went to Rio Grande campus for the Climate Summit, but it's not until NEXT Friday!

Meditated on my back patio this morning with my new patio furniture. It was lovely. It would also be lovely if I would hear about the job. The deadline for AASHE early-bird registration is tomorrow!

@test.deck.blue isn't working right since the latest update made me sign in again. I don't have some of my feeds, and it is annoying! In other news, the guy is here to assemble my patio furniture, so that's good! And I''m almost done with assignment 2 for Ethics of Care!

Signed up to go to the Central Texas Climate Summit this Friday. Should be a good thing! Now I just have to not forget to go, and also figure out how to get to the Rio Grande campus.

Working on my second big assignment for my Ethics of Care class, and it is so hard to concentrate! I am awaiting a phone call about my job and feedback from one of my committee members, so I am on edge, despite meditating this morning.

Well, the good news is that apparently I DO have the new job! The bad news is I still have to go through another drug screen :-(

Latest news on the job: I got an email this morning asking me to fill out info for a background check, including a drug screen. Which I've already done as a condition of my employment in the past, but apparently the people in HR didn't check that. ARGH.

I think I might've finished the first major assignment for my ethics of care class, hooray! It took approximately FOREVER. Gonna look at it one more time tomorrow before posting.

Will I EVER hear about the job? So far, all signs point to no.
