I honestly don’t think America has suddenly gotten worse. I think a critical mass of people have just come to the slow realization that this is actually The Bad Place.

As a woman who has worked in the tech industry for 20+ years, DEI was never implemented anywhere seriously. It was always a smoke screen. Tech is as viciously misogynistic as it was in the late 90s.
