Cáisc, Modern Irish for 'Easter', at first looks unrelated to other Easter-words, beyond Scots Gaelic (Càisg) and Manx (Caisht). It goes back to the time when Irish had no /p/ sound – the closest it could do was /kʷ/. This is how Cáisc comes from Latin Pasca, like French Pâques and Italian Pasqua.
