Does anyone know of a group/organization that helps trans folk move or possibly seek asylum if they feel they're in danger? I don't want to speak for the trans community but if anyone has resources you would like me to post feel free to DM me. That goes for trans mental health hotlines as well.

I don’t think I’m going to get over Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 for a long time. It gives me that same feeling of love and astonishment as games that I first fell in love with did.

Day 17 (??) of there being a squirrel living in the casement of our chimney: I have begun psychological warfare with the squeaking from the bricks by blasting “squirrel territorial sounds” from a YouTube video through the speaker in front of the fireplace.

I recognize that by state law, I am not licensed in any way to climb onto our roof and set up a live trap to get the squirrel living in our chimney out. But with each failed attempt to get wildlife removal companies to do so, I start believing that in my heart I am now licensed to do so.

I think a big part of home ownership is inevitably running into “What was the previous owner thinking?” type problems. You know, the ones where you’re suddenly spending thousands of dollars to fix some weird decision that they made during the initial build or a remodel.

I grew up in the Bay Area—which is very LGBTQ+ friendly. My first time meeting a trans person was when a classmates parent transitioned when I was in second grade. I didn’t really understand what that meant, but I wasn’t bothered by it either—they were simply different than other people I’d met.

Sometimes I’ll be in a meeting with other editors and someone will say something that taken out of context sounds really wrong. Today’s sentence? “So that’s it on colons, anything else about colons before I move into the period?” (It was a presentation on punctuation, I swear.)

More South of Midnight chatter—but I’m super impressed by the attention to detail throughout this game. From Hazel’s clothing getting grosser as the game progresses to little things like the paint on stairs being worn out in the middle of each step where people would be using them the most.

While I have spent much of my weekend building tiny things, I took a break to build a very large thing instead. This is how much I love my tiny gremlin of a cat, Alfie (I also love our older cat, Calcifer, but I suspect his interest in this wheel wouldn’t be as great lol).

I’m having one of those, “wow I’m an idiot” moments right now. So I’ve got sleep apnea and I use a CPAP at night and it’s got this tank of water attached to it to make sure my sinuses don’t get horribly dried out. Now, every night before bed Max graciously refills that stupid little tank for me.

How am I dealing with minimal human contact for a week while my partner is on a work/family trip? Well, let’s just say I have seven more of these kits to build. (I’ll have to acquire more Smiskis though!)

I recognize that there are a lot of different types of D&D players and that I am absolutely a head empty one. Will I remember the overarching point of the campaign? No. Will I absolutely follow whatever singular character trait I set myself? Absolutely.

Well, @maxnichols.bsky.social is going to come home to find I’ve developed a 35 lb growth in the time he’s been away. It’s the dog. The growth is our dog who refuses to be more than a foot away from me at any point in time out of fear that I, too, will disappear.
