I do like opening with William Pitt. Such a fascinating character. His unabashed spending and willingness to humor the Americans in ways Braddock, Loudoun and others would not in the late 1750s helped turn the tide of the Seven Years' War....and create the problems he would later lament #HATM

I find it fascinating how Washington seemed to understand the nature of this war and the importance of keeping an army in the field, at a time when so many of his peers wanted to do "something" different and confront the enemy. I think it goes to GW's political skills as well as martial. #HATM
