So true, and this goes farther than games. Virtually -everyone- is lacking understanding of humanities, ethics, and interpersonal relationships in their profession today.

there isn't a problem with the game's industry. there's a problem with every industry and every publicly traded company. getting a "nice CEO who cares" or whatever won't fix anything until things are addressed at a more fundamental societal level. the system will always drive towards this behavior.
