A lot of folks new to ceramics get really trapped in the 'rules'. You can sculpt things solid and they won't blow up. Glazes 'made for' low fire cones might look great and different in midrange. Clay too! If you're able, play around and test EVERYTHING, you might be surprised what happens :)
