OK, looks like 3I/ATLAS is a comet! If it were an asteroid the image would be symmetric circles. The distortion is likely due to ices sublimating to form a gaseous tail.

About 50,000 years ago a 50 meter wide object burned a path through the Earths atmosphere, exploded just before impact and blasted a 1.2 km wide (3/4 mile) crater. I tried to include likely contemporary animals and plants. Airbrush and hand brush acrylics on gessoed stretched canvas. #SCIART
