Paper day! My latest first-author work is out!! TLDR: I built a suite of simulations based on SIMBA that varies the energetic efficiency of different modes of AGN feedback. We explored how these modes impacted different galaxy and gas properties and uncovered degeneracies in the parameter space 🧪🔭

A bit of good news this week…Y’all may remember this graphic I made, showcasing what the President’s budget request would do to NASA’s science fleet (tldr it would decimate it). Well the house just passed a bill that soundly rejects these cuts, keeping NASA funding roughly the same as last year🧪🔭

This week I had a family wedding in Canada, gave a seminar talk, submitted FIVE postdoc applications, had my tech review (my PhD committtee decided I’ll be ready to graduate in the spring), and tomorrow I leave for a conference in Japan! I am…so very tired. But also happy 😊😅

I present to you: the Astronomer’s Periodic Table. Hydrogen, Helium, and….everything else is a metal. But why? Well, mostly because there’s not much out there besides the first two elements. In the early universe, nothing could form except H, He, and a tiny bit of Li and Be. (1/n)

Here’s the problem about the whole “NASA found life on Mars” thing-they didn’t! 🧪🔭 What they found were some very interesting mineral deposits that could be a potential biosignature, caused by microbes at some point in Mars’ past. That is an amazing discovery! But… (1/n)

Oh my goodness it’s a double butterfly week! 🧪🔭 First we got this look of the Butterfly Nebula, a planetary nebula formed at the end of a star’s life. The outer layers are expelled and illuminated by the remnant core, creating something resembling butterfly wings! (1/n)
