i can't give a date when im opening commissions again, for lack of a better way to say it, i kind of fell apart the latter half of this year while my unemployment continues. but, thankfully, im already on track to getting my life back together.

i truly suck at trying to talk about or announce stuff that im doing because a) im chronically really bad at finishing long term projects and b) im just bad at advertising myself on social media which is all to say, im starting a patreon in february. look out for it. there'll be some exclusive stuff

me and my friend were trying to set up and tests the games we wanna do for our next group archipelago run, i couldnt get VVVVVV working so im going with link's awakening. after a point we were just playing a duo archipelago because we were having so much fun playing our respective games lol

finished SKALD and i can truly say this might go up there as one of my favorite games of all time. the entire experience, the character writing, the quest design, the art, and the music together manage to contribute to something wholly unique to the games that clearly inspired it. highly recommend.

Zero tolerance is the ONLY and FITTING response to genAI being used in production of media. Sure, you might think it's too harsh. Sure, they might've only used it for early stuff in development, etc Listen, it's not even a SLIPPERY slope, there is NO friction at all unless we speak out against it.

Excluding costs, the biggest impediment to AI adoption in game dev is that the output quality sucks ass and it makes games worse. AI adopters need everyone to use it so that people lower their standards and become more okay with buying garbage

One thing I think is interesting about the people saying ‘generative AI is here to stay’ is that they are kinda ignoring that the current version of it is relatively cheap (or free) for the end user purely because the companies behind it a burning cash to make it so.

Keep thinking about this term "pre-digested" that Kojima used to describe art that's instantly gratifying. And how it's better when people grow to love something instead. I've gravitated, as player and designer, toward the latter, but that term "pre-digested" is new and feels very strong.

there is nothing more humbling than playing archipelago if only for the fact that i would consider my game knowledge and skill at yoshi's island pretty good but waiting on features to unlock/how to progress levels without them has required some real creative problem solving that i've never had to do
