Patrick Dane, longtime games and entertainment journalist and News Editor at This Week in Videogames, has died in a motor vehicle accident. He was 34 years old.

Pat was stupid great kindness and big heartedness and I am devastated. For almost 10 years I was lucky enough to count him as a close friend, he always cared so deeply it was like being around the sun. I can’t believe I won’t get to hang out with my pal and chat about penguins and lore anymore

I couldn’t have asked for a better friend. The hole Pat leaves is immeasurable but I am so very thankful for the time we got to spend together. The warmth, positivity, and humour that he brought every day was nothing short of spectacular. I don’t have the words to describe how much I’ll miss him.

I've known Pat for a while, but over the last year, having accidentally gotten him and @olliecragg.bsky.social hooked on D&D, I had the pleasure of getting to know him a lot better and getting to talk to him daily and game multiple times a week.
