This is an actual free speech issue. “Can you have a reaction to the death of someone close to the government that the government does not like without fear.” It’s not “was someone mean to you at a cocktail party” or even “do they not want to be friends with you.” It’s this.

We call on all members of Congress manage to refrain from antisemitic, schoolyard bullying about their Jewish colleagues’ noses generally, and especially in a post about respecting women’s bodies.

I think you should be able to condemn violence without pretending its victim stood for different ideals than he did.

As with the attempted assassination of Trump, people leaping to say this justifies crackdowns on The Left with no actual evidence The Left was involved, decrying violent rhetoric in one breath and using it in the next

So you have a representative academic survey from a university that found most faculty aren't antisemitic — and those who are generally aren't the Israel critics — and a non-representative survey from an advocacy group that reported widespread faculty antisemitism primarily connected to Israel 🤷‍♂️

A more thorough survey released by Brandeis in July found 90% of faculty at U.S. universities expressed no hostility toward Jews or Israel and the 7% hostile toward Jews tended to be conservatives (not the "extremely liberal" professors hostile toward Israel) www.insidehighered.com/news/faculty...
