DAY OF THE DEAD (1985) turned out quite good! A claustrophobic character drama that keeps it's characters simmering until the 3rd act Grand Guignol, as Romero indulges his interest in human drama over horror spectacle. Gore gags are exceptional, while make-up effects vary WILDLY.

FUCK YEAH.

This is a way better look than Magik's current costume, which still sucks ass. >___< She DESPERATELY needs a redesign. That Bachelo costume has always been God awful. How has it survived as her main look for like 10 years!?!

DICK TRACY (1990) is a film that I would love to see get the boutique 4K treatment from an ARROW or VINEGAR SYNDROME. It's a STUNNING and NOVEL film, and Warren Beatty got SO WEIRD after making it!

I think the most magnificent thing about George Romero is that, even from the beginning of his career, he wrote GREAT parts for people of color and women. I think the best character with the best stuff in DAY OF THE DEAD is John, played by Terry Alexander. What a SUPERB performance!

Progressing through DAY OF THE DEAD (1985). I like it! It's quite different from modern zombie films...more of a quiet, contemplative, slow burn post-apocalypse sci-fi character piece, examining tensions, stress, fatigue, burden, and a cynical lack of hope, with less emphasis on gory spectacle.

HEART EYES (2025) was disappointing, though the final kills were GREAT. Time to watch DAY OF THE DEAD (1985)! I've never seen this before (or the original DAWN OF THE DEAD, if I'm being honest. ^__^;;;).

DC's POISON IVY ongoing by G. Willow Wilson and (largely) Marcio Takara has been one of the STRONGEST books of recent memory, as evidenced by a TREMENDOUS unbroken run of 39 issues! This is a big reason why I'm buying 3-4 times as much DC as I am Marvel right now. DC is doing really good stuff.

I don't know if I'm in the minority, but the DICK TRACY movie FUCKED HARD. : | And it's STILL GOOD! It's not even nostalgia! It's a really good, weird, spectacular, movie full of amazing performances and some great make-up effects and production design! And even some great songs!

I work in a warehouse for a worldwide hydraulics parts manufacturer and distributor, and our German facility has an automated warehouse...which still requires human laborers. Also also...it's their ONLY automated warehouse. It costs to much to do again. I'm not worried about my job.

Ran down to Eglinton to get beers from the LCBO there, and picked up the DAY OF THE DEAD (1985) SHOUT! Factory blu-ray. I've seen this come and go a few times and passed on it, but I figured, "Why not?" this time? I believe it's a divisive movie? I liked LAND OF THE DEAD a lot, myself.

Watching HEART EYES (2025). The script is by Chris Landon (HAPPY DEATH DAY/2U/etc) and directed by Josh Rueben, who did WEREWOLVES WITHIN (which I really liked), but this is a bit of a misfire. Something is NOT working here. Landon's doing his usual thing of marrying familiar genre tropes...

Pragmatically, if you’re interested in revolution or resistance of any sort, you *want* an approachable package of basic revolutionary ideology that people are happy to engage with en masse. You want something that helps people give an easy name to what they’re seeing

This is WAY worse, because it's basically a precursor to what we will likely be seeing everywhere in America soon...a completely White-Washing. Corporate policy aligning with White Supremacy either out of capitulation or out of FEAR of NOT aligning with it. (Not that this wasn't already happening.)

This chaos also speaks to the growing awareness of the profound corruption of the Supreme Court. The excessive H1B fee is clearly illegal according to the text of the applicable statute. But no one can have any confidence anymore that it will ultimately be thrown out.

The one thing that gets me about DANGER: DIABOLIK is that in my head I keep pronouncing it as Dee-a-ball-leek to sound more European, while they pronounce it as Die-a-ball-lick, which just sounds crude to me. ^__^;;; This is just a me thing, tho.

Blu-ray.com's review of the SUPERMAN 4K is out, and the supplemental package is just *Chef's Kiss*. This will be a first day buy for me. I don't think I can wait to get this used.
