I think I recommended it once already, but Sarah Marshall’s The Devil You Know podcast about the satanic panic is really great. It’s thoughtful and compassionate, and even if you’ve lived through it, you’ll probably learn something new, or see something from a new perspective.

Watched Wake Up Dead Man tonight, and I was really surprised by how much I was affected by what the women in this church are going through. I mean, wonderfully acted, but also I think really generously written.

We got a nice dusting of snow on a day when I don’t have to be anywhere, which is the best kind of snow.

Made mac and cheese using sodium citrate for the first time, and it ended up being too cheesy, even for me (a person who loves cheese). The recipe was from Flavor Bombs by Adam Fleishman and Tien Nguyen, and it was certainly very flavor, but also too much cheese

The starchild has convinced me to watch 30 of their favorite episodes of Supernatural before it leaves Netflix. Wish me luck, and fortitude!

I don’t know, this is probably a bad article, but as a woman who’s been playing ttrpgs since the 80s, I’m guessing that the guys who didn’t want me to play in their game because I was a girl are still out there, and still don’t want girls to play.

Assuming this is not ai or whatever, I am once again asking what is the point of being rich to these people? They don’t even use their money to build enjoyable lives for themselves.

Don’t know who needs to hear this, but it’s time to salt your turkey and leave it uncovered in the fridge so the skin dries out and the meat gets flavorful. Disregard if you wet brine your turkey, or if you’re doing a smaller bird that only needs 24 hours. 🍽️🍜

My family has pie for breakfast the next morning, because everyone is always too full after dinner. It’s a great way to keep the party going, and you have room to try all the pies (plus, apple pie with whipped cream is great with coffee)

Nah, for like 99% of recipes you really can just eyeball it. Baking involves science (as does all cooking), but like any skill, what you really need to do is develop experience, which means trying things and failing sometimes. Posts like this make people scared to even try.

Fucked around and made Dolly Parton’s cranberry mold - not for Thanksgiving, just to try it. It tastes more raspberry than cranberry, but it’s good, even with the celery. 🍽️🍜

Happy to learn that my kids’ friends refer to ours as ‘the good Thanksgiving’. I work my butt off cooking every year, so it’s nice to feel appreciated.

We live in a condo, and rarely get trick-or-treaters, so today we set up a table outside, actually handed out some candy, and got to say hi to some of our neighbors. We also had some anti-ice/know your rights pamphlets to hand out.
