Amid all the legal ambiguities regarding the withdrawal of Argentina and the United States from WHO, at last the WHA lands on some clarity - and takes a (wise) precedent-grounded stance, declining to accept withdrawal but placing these states in 'suspension' until they are ready to re-engage.

It will take a long time to come to terms with the passing of the remarkable, incomparable Brigit Toebes. My own time with Brigit was far too short. Even in that span, she left an indelible mark on me - as a scholar, teacher, colleague. This is a profound loss for the field and all who knew her.

Some personal news: after more than a decade with @msf.ca, today is my last day as the Humanitarian Representative to Canada for Doctors Without Borders. Serving in this role has been the privilege of a lifetime and I’m leaving feeling inspired by the work that MSF does.

In late 2025, I will join a team of experts in Kingston, Jamaica, to support the country’s 1st Joint External Evaluation of IHR capacities. I will focus on capacities in P1 - Legal Instruments.
