Two years ago in August 2023 I tweeted about it - wondering why a redundant pole was protected by two bollards.

Two years later: August 2025. The pole remains. A testament to the general dysfunction of Cork. The city is not maintained. This pole has existed in a redundant form for at least 5 years, but really more like a decade plus. And that's just one example of the dysfunction.

Who would've thought? Lower speed limits, better public transport, quality walking and cycling infrastructure, and putting people before cars actually works. Too bad the Irish government still refuses to take any of it seriously.
