I just watched a clip of the Portland mayor, and the governor speaking. Apparently tRump is putting out footage from five years ago as propaganda to justify sending troops to Portland. (There was rioting there after George Floyd’s murder.)

Gov. Tina Kotek on Saturday said she attempted to correct President Donald Trump’s perception that Portland is “war ravaged,” telling him local and state leaders “can manage our own local public safety needs” without federal troops.

Was just messaging with my son who lives in Portland, and works downtown. This is one of the things he said. “I’m downtown every day. We certainly have a bad homelessness problem but he’s not sending outreach workers, and humanitarian shelters.”🙄

Trump is sending troops to Portland with the goal of “doing a number” on the city. He wants to stoke fear and chaos and trigger violent interactions and riots to justify expanded authoritarian control. Let’s not take the bait! Portland is peaceful and strong and we will take care of each other.

The President of the United States claims to have authorized the military to use lethal force on US citizens, and there’s not a single Republican who has the balls to tell him that’s both illegal and morally wrong.
