A couple things with this: Bluesky isn't "independent." It, too, is owned by rich people, and there's been some troubling moderation going on recently. Pixelfed was created/is being run by a pretty toxic developer who cares more about clout than anything else.

Your mental health matters and for those who generally feel some kind of way about damn near everything this is probably taking a harder hit on you than most. Especially for those whose nature tend to unintentionally absorb others’ pain and traumas like a sponge.

Trump‘s first term taught me that while we do need to know what’s going on there is also no need for us to always be so connected. Doing so will gaslight you into feeling that you’ve gone insane in slow motion. That’s basically what fascism wants anyway so why take any road to that?

For ppl that are genuinely empathetic or sensitive to others’ energies please take some time for yourself that *doesn’t* involve browsing social media. Especially engagement sites like this one. Nothing is normal and doom scrolling is a very real and unhealthy thing. Find or make other outlets.

I dont ever remember this being taught in schools because… why would they? It paints the US in “a bad light” which is just awful. I think this was something i learned about much much later on my own. Did the full course: the Digimon promo, the Angela Anaconda short, and the combined American film, followed by the brand new dubs of the original three films, and even slotting the appropriate DoReMi feature between parts of Hurricane Touchdown. Deranged behavior, but more than worth it.

The new Sound Cadence dubs of the original three Digimon movies are fantastic. There's maybe a bit more quoting the original dub script than I would've expected but otherwise they're right in line with a slightly more serious take on the material, and the returning and new cast are a delight.

I was especially impressed with the quality of most of the soundalikes, which is something I usually tend to be pretty critical of. Mimi, Joe, Yolei, and Cody are the ones that stuck out most to me of doing a really good job, especially given the limited screen presence.

Every returning cast member still sounded pretty great, but some of them even stepped their game up: Mona Marshall has vocally barely aged a day and puts in an incredibly strong Terriermon performance, and Bob Glouberman puts in a really somber, sober Willis.

Honestly, big props to Sound Cadence for getting as many returning actors as they did, a lot of the other Digimon Adventure revival projects didn't even go this hard with the casting and I'm glad that the love and care is really clear in the final product. Couldn't have asked for a better release.

Great to hear Lara Jill Miller again as Kari. She had only come back to the VA scene relatively recently and hadn't reprised Kari for any of the other material, so it felt like a treat. She probably does a better job as baby Kari now than she did in the original version (the material helps).
