Spending the morning writing questions on Midordinate rule and it feels a bit like I'm finally getting into the academic year again. Asked, how do we find time to write a book and teach full time? Turns out it's my hobby.

Today I did my 2nd year 1 A level lesson for the first time in a few years. I was torn on whether to move on or pause to do questions, & found myself doing the latter because it turns out I like our textbook 🤣 I wonder if they'll get sick of it. I haven't taught like this for 7 years! #MathsToday

I suppose we can tell them to check but it's up to them. They'll be the ones who need to buy a new one when it gets answers wrong. When it arrives they can do the QR check and send back if it's fake

I've never been able to understand why (state) sixth form colleges have to pay VAT? When we buy things like graphical calculators in bulk for students to buy, we have to charge them 20% more than their peers in schools. If we have to pay it, private schools certainly should!

I saw henning wehn in a hotel. Coincidentally, I had some people recognise me (as a mildly well known within the union, as an activist). He saw my interaction and managed a snigger when I commented on the weirdness of other people knowing me when I didn't know them.

In #MathsToday we explored sketching polar curves, through considering cartesian graphs. Enjoyed seeing them identifying polar curves from their sketches before we had formalised the different types. All in a room on the other side of campus due to computer science exams taking over our building!

Because I go away in the college holidays, and I have far too much to do to down tools... I've learnt to play the game of furthest north/ south/east/west we've worked on a TLMaths project. I'm claiming furthest East today.

Been working through edits on this fat book this week. Can tell you're into it when you're saying "oh I like this question". Turns out Jack and I have different tastes in what we like though 🤷‍♀️

With 34 days left until the exam, I'm really pleased to see my students using both the exam papers AND the problem solving questions in the TLMaths textbook. Already quite proud of how my second years transformed over this year.

Worth a watch, I know people are gonna love the CG100 if they don't already use the Numworks
