Between 1828-9 Samuel Hasell excavated a villa at Pitney #Somerset Sheds were built to protect the villa but sadly they had gone by 1836 and so had the mosaics 😞 All we have left are lithographs like this one by Hasell of Cadmus thrashing a python* *don't Google this 😬 Happy #MosaicMonday

We were excited to welcome Time Team back last week to Branodunum Roman Fort on the Norfolk Coast. Geophysics experts used Ground Penetrating Radar on parts of the site and now have a huge amount of data to analyse and interpret. We look forward to finding out what they found in the new year.

Well that was rather lovely ❤️ I got to spend the last hour or so sharing some of the aspects of my amazing job at @nationaltrust.org.uk for the @sanhs.org webinar series! And my parents even watched whilst on their holiday in South Africa!!

*SANHS Historic Buildings group - request for information* We are studying apotropaic marks in Exmoor houses (or in any Somerset buildings). Also known 'witch marks' or 'anti-witch marks' in Europe, these symbols or patterns are scratched on buildings to protect them from witchcraft or evil spirits.

I've absolutely loved doing this cross stitch!
