I’m working with E R Thorpe,and she’s playing Brighton’s Folklore Rooms next Thursday (28/5). Emma’s been getting rave reviews for her album and this will be her Brighton debut. Huw Costin, is in Jim (Crazy P)’s band, will also be performing. Tickets are £12 at Folklore Rooms website

Over the past five days I’ve seen Beverly Glenn-Copeland (82) and Laurie Anderson (78) perform at the Brighton Festival. Each gig was life-affirming. Uplifting, political, truly remarkable. Copeland brought on a brilliant queer choir, Anderson duetted with (taped) Arthur Russell! Celebrate them.

This felt like a seismic coming-together moment in our season. The performance, the effort, the fans (those that turned up!), each have me believing that this won’t end as badly as feared. For the last year or so I’ve been helping out behind the scenes at Vicious Charm. It’s a brilliant label with a wonderful roster of artists. JIM has produced E R Thorpe’s debut album and the test pressing arrived today. Such a joy to see a great artist like Emma make a magnificent record…

Blame the owners, yes. Blame the players, some. But the tactics are on TF. If we can’t raise an effort to take on teams who are out of form/low on confidence we deserve all we get. The passive performances are on him. I’m en route home and I’ve rarely felt so dismayed with the whole damn club.
