I find it funny in hindsight, because I write DS years in advance and Xiaoling wasn't even a character in the original plot. But when I got to actually drawing that part of the story I realized I'd manifested Kim's soulmate, leading to the only massive story rewrite I've done for the series.

With Hat Atelier is, no exaggeration, one of the most mesmerizing comics out there. Kamome Shirahama isn't "good at drawing" - she has great technical skill, yes, but she controls the flow like no one else, comes up with imagery that projects a world, and roots all of it in the themes of her series
