Yes, indeed. Lots of common modalities are about locating the problem in the individual, which can be deeply unhelpful. The key, as always, if you're seeking treatment is having a knowledgeable professional/person guiding you through the pros & cons of each treatment angle/method.

I'm pretty tired of the narrative that psych medication "numbs", "dulls", "dampens down" and therapy is the real cure this week 🥱 Why assume therapy can never acclimatise a person to an unjust world? Why assume medication doesn't treat just because we don't know for sure?

There was some frightening evidence, never thought a push to get people out of institutions and prevent incarceration would so readily be weaponised against people who are ill and needing support.

National statistics published 31/10/2024 show the rate of children put through a s47 child protection investigation in England that didn't lead to a child protection plan has nearly doubled since 2014. That's 162,410 children investigated in 2024 that did not find harm

Also struck by the parallels between Morgan writing to express remorse for her actions and the way services often respond to complaints (with a letter containing if lucky an apology but also offering context and reasons)

Reading Morgan Bletchley's inquest on the other place - simultaneously appalled and hopeful that the more transparent the coroners court becomes, the more we learn
