I mentioned earlier that screen sizes and safe areas were the hardest part of developing Snap Shot Golf, but I’ve spent much more time on controls and interactions… It took many failed attempts before I realised I could use a second finger to shape shots like plucking a bow. 🏹

My TV screen might be getting smaller, but my calculator screen is definitely getting larger! Wanted a TI-83 Plus Silver Edition for a long time, when this model appeared with a pair of ViewScreens I had to pick it up. Fun to see some of my programs finally running at 15MHz. Now I just need an OHP!

Dealing with different screen sizes and their safe/unsafe areas has been the hardest part of Snap Shot Golf. Here's an iPad Pro 10.5” running iOS 17, before I made changes to cope with the pillarboxing. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a better way that I am totally missing.

Snap Shot Golf update: today has mostly been about optimisation. The game draws a frame, with proper “tilt-shift” gradient blur, in just 1ms! Praise be to GPU batch rendering. Frame-rate is locked at 60Hz (maybe one day Apple will allow me to switch on 120Hz?)
