Nigel Farage decided to withdraw from a live interview on BBC one this morning, sending Richard Tice as a replacement. Changing the messenger from Farage makes Reform's criticism of Trump a lower profile comment, including its reach in the US.

We as the UK have been fruitlessly chasing the mythical US-UK Trade Deal for what feels like decades now, and even cut ourselves off from our biggest trading partner, the EU, to do so. Additional tariffs are now going to be imposed on the UK by the US because we oppose the annexation of an ally.

It’s a real shame that Nigel Farage is too unwell to do interviews the morning after Donald Trump threatens us with sanctions. Here he is with “the bravest man he ever met”. He campaigned to make Trump President, and has spent the last year enjoying all the chaos he has caused.

Europe has - in technical terms - an absolute sod load of potential economic leverage over the United States. It has turned the other cheek due to security concerns. The US seems intent on demonstrating that it will not guarantee European security. So Europe may start using that leverage.

FIFA would then try to punish European nations over it, which would have the bonus side effect of showing it up for what it is, too.

If the Conservative party were in government and if Farage was genuinely in reach of Downing Street then this would all be significant. As it is, he's scooping up failures and sacked MPs and in the process undermining his entire USP. It's actually spectacularly stupid.
