A day of national tragedy

I found a missing Batman link! Actually, it’s amazing how much this movie must have visually inspired the character and some later filmmakers who tackle the Dark Knight.

Whatever my mom wouldn’t let him play in the house: Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, CCR. Illicit car classic rock was definitely the beginning of my own musical journey. Also occasionally Gregorian chants that my dad had on tape. I had a weird childhood.

For this week’s #LetterboxdFriday, we have a lot of “The” titles: a stoner manifesto, a movie about doing your best, a silent movie about not leaving someone on read before getting major surgery, and a movie I reviewed for @moviejawn.com.

Just discovered that the Ambler Theater is showing THE GOLEM with Not So Silent Cinema on October 8! Not only do I love silent films with live accompaniment, but I wrote about THE GOLEM a few years ago as one of the first (and few surviving) films about an automaton.

This hit me in the personal growth gut.

Regressive! That’s the word I was looking for here. It’s parent’s rights advocates’ new favorite movie.
