I have three roos to process today. It is an unpleasant task (messy, time consuming, heart-wearying) but becoming part of the process of my food reminds me to be appreciative of any food I take into my body. It's a reminder to use more and throw away less, to be thoughtful about food storage.

Sometimes I think that audiences are so primed for creators to turn out to be secret bigots that they struggle with stories that portray bigotry. We're so used to people with power abusing it that it is not easy for some to go all in on media that could betray problematic behavior.

I wish audiences were more encouraged to examine feelings of discomfort. Why does this ugly character trait make you uncomfortable? Does that ugliness devalue the abuse they have suffered? But most importantly, what does this ugliness tell you about this character's position in the world?
