In today’s mail: two beautiful new mould & deckle sets from The Papertrail for hand paper making at Skeuomorph. One makes 8.5x11” sheets & the other 12x18”, we can make sheets for posters or large book impositions. Looking forward to trying them out in upcoming workshops & classes!

First up in the Society of Early Americanists joint fundraiser are the protest posters of @ryancordell.org - Ryan directs @skeuomorphpress.org an experiential studio for research and teaching in book and information arts that is housed in the @Champaign-Urbana Community FabLab....

We’ve been running low on wall space @skeuomorphpress.org for awhile, so while course prepping this weekend I decided to use our vertical space—now we have prints up into the rafters!

Thanks to a generous donation, we were able to buy two new riso color drums, so you can officially create 4-color riso prints at Skeuomorph! Prof. @ryancordell.org’s students experimented with pink & black for their zine lab today

I heard the NEA is only considering proposals related to 1776 & the USA’s 250th birthday & I was feeling intensely patriotic, so I’m printing these really big posters inspired *directly* by the Founding Fathers The cut was carved from the masthead of a 19th century newspaper

During office hours today I could not resist testing out the new (to @skeuomorphpress.org) “negative space” font we inherited earlier this week & y’all I’m in love 😍

It’s happening y’all! The students came & we’re printing the kissing booth coupons, using a form of type that was probably set 50-60 years ago Try doing that with a WordPerfect file you saved to Zip disk! More seriously, it’s by far the tiniest thing I’ve ever printed

I am grateful to work at a university with a wide range of expertise well beyond the academic Last year @skeuomorphpress.org inherited this beautiful Hoe & Co. handpress—built circa 1840—it’s a workhorse with a large bed & was once used to print the local newspaper—but we couldn’t get even prints+
