Do any of my fellow #gamedev folks know of any indie game demo expos in the next few weeks? After ages of not working on my game, I've realized I need a hard deadline to get something done, and self-imposed ones have been duds so far.

In less than 24 hours, I've gone from not caring about 007 First Light at all to it being one of my most hyped games of 2026.

I have two weeks off for Christmas break starting Friday. I'd like to believe I'll use some of that time for #gamedev and other projects, but if previous years are an indication, I'll spend most of the time just trying to decompress in preparation for the New Year.

I'm really, really sad about the fact that I'm excited for the upgrade pack to be free.

Just heard a bit of the FF7 soundtrack for the first time. Why is it a universal constant that every JRPG must have some of the best music in video game history?

The linearity of Metroid Prime 4 hasn't bothered me very much tbh, even though I know it's a big issue a lot of people have. I think I figured out why I don't mind: Metroid Prime 4 is imo a really, really good Half-Life game.

I wonder how many people realize that the 2D preview viewport in the Godot editor is scaled by the editor scale, and so is not an exact representation of what the runtime will look like in terms of scale and sizes. And, in case of pixel-perfect details, they may even look wrongly aliased, broken.

I kinda want @valvesoftware.com to integrate ProtonDB directly with SteamOS. As nice as the Deck Verified system is, it's very much not perfect, and can't always tell the full story. Then again, I also want a Switch 2 port of Titanfall 2. Some things just aren't meant to be.

Tbh, I was super open to the idea of Vi-O-La (it was obv not the main focus of the game, and seemed like a cool idea), but... human sidekicks are something I just cannot get behind. The game's still a day one buy from me, but for the first time, I'm scared of how it'll turn out.

It's so rare that you ever get a game where something happens mid-game that drastically shakes up the way you play it, because everyone's so afraid to have an actual gameplay narrative, or afraid that if the player doesn't "beat the game" (another charged term) they've failed as a developer.
